Synopsis
On our wedding anniversary, I discovered my husband—who claimed to be entertaining a client—was actually in bed with his junior college sweetheart.
They were tangled up in our bedroom, making love without a care in the world. Overwhelmed by nausea, I ran out into the street, only to be struck down by a speeding car.
In death, I watched the mistress take my place, enjoying everything I had ever owned.
Not only did my husband feel zero remorse, but he also pampered her like a queen.
Consumed by fury, I suddenly gasped for breath and opened my eyes. I was back to the morning of our anniversary.
This time, I calmly did my makeup, set up my camera, and hit the live button.
"Catching my cheating husband LIVE! Drop some gifts and grab your popcorn, guys!"
I was right back on the morning of our wedding anniversary.
In my past life, I had booked a restaurant a week in advance and spent hours learning how to make beef bourguignon, his absolute favorite.
At three in the afternoon, I texted him on SnapChat: "Tonight at seven. Our usual spot. See you there."
He didn't reply.
It wasn't until five o'clock that he finally sent a voice note:
"I'm so sorry, babe. An urgent client came up. I'll try my best to hurry over, but eat first. Don't wait for me."
Like an idiot, I replied, "It's fine, work comes first. I'll wait for you until nine."
At nine o'clock, I drove to our new suburban townhouse.
That was when I heard them from our master bedroom—the sweet giggles of his college junior, Chloe, mixed with Ryan's deep, husky voice.
And then came the words that carved straight into my bones: "She's nowhere near as wild as you."
I couldn't remember how I stumbled out of that house. All I remembered was the screech of burning tires.
And that text message sitting in Ryan's outbox.
It read: "Baby, tonight at our usual spot. Miss you."
Timestamp: 4:20 PM.
Right after I told him, "Tonight at seven, our usual spot,"
he turned around and invited his "baby" to their very own "usual spot."
I remembered Chloe.
She had crushed on him back in college. Later, she studied abroad in Europe, and when she returned last year, she immediately joined Ryan's tech firm as his executive assistant.
At a company gala Ryan brought me to, Chloe had been there too.
She had smiled warmly, calling me "Nora" with false sweetness, but the look in her eyes whenever she glanced at Ryan was dripping with undisguised adoration.
Back then, I just brushed it off as innocent admiration from a younger colleague. I didn't think twice.
Later, though, Ryan started bringing her up constantly.
"Chloe's really sharp. She takes a ton of stress off my shoulders."
"Chloe stayed up all night helping me prep the pitch deck. I really should treat her to dinner."
And I, like a clueless fool, had said, "You definitely should thank her properly."
Looking back now, using "work" as an excuse was just their sick way of sneaking around right under my nose.
I unlocked my phone, opened my contacts, and found Maya.
She ran a digital media agency specializing in women's empowerment and relationship content.
"Hello? Nora? Calling this early? Did hell freeze over?" Maya's voice was full of playful banter. "Doesn't the pampered housewife sleep in until noon every day?"
"Maya," I said, my voice hoarse. "I need a favor."
Maya's tone shifted instantly.
"What happened? Did Ryan piss you off again?"
"Worse than that." I took a deep breath. "I'm going live."
"You hate being on camera! You wouldn't even let us shoot a clip of you at our annual party," Maya said, confused.
"I'm livestreaming myself catching a cheater." I spoke each word with deadly calm.
Dead silence stretched over the line for three seconds before Maya lowered her voice.
"Nora, what did you just say? Say that again. Ryan... he's cheating on you?"
"Yes." I walked over to the vanity and sat down. "And today is our anniversary. He arranged to meet Chloe at their special place."
"What a piece of shit!" Maya cursed through her teeth. "Isn't Chloe his little assistant from college?"
"That scumbag! Where are you? I'm coming over right now!"
"Don't come here," I cut her off. "I need your team to prep a production-level livestream."
"I need hidden cameras, crystal-clear 4K video, crisp audio, and preferably multi-angle coverage."
"I also need a rock-solid tech team managing the stream in real-time, making sure nobody can report it or shut it down."
"Most importantly, I want viral traffic."
"I want this stream trending number one on Twitter."
I looked at my reflection in the mirror, my lips curling into a cold smirk.
"The title will be... 'Anniversary Surprise: Let's See What My Husband Got Me.'"
"Nora..." Maya's voice cracked a bit. "Are you sure about this? Airing all your dirty laundry in public... it's brutal. People will talk."
"We could take the legal route. Gather proof quietly, get a killer divorce lawyer, strip him of every dime..."
"Strip him of every dime?" I let out a soft laugh. "Maya, it's not just about the money."
"I want him ruined. I want both of them dragged through the mud so hard they'll never show their faces again."
"I can make my own money. But this rage? I have to unleash it."
"Deal. I've got the crew and gear ready to roll."
"Hang tight. I'll bring the team and the rigs to your place in two hours."
"No," I countered. "Not my house. We meet outside."
"Fine. Nine o'clock at the coffee shop right below my office."
"See you there."
I hung up. The countdown had begun.
Ryan, you love playing with schedules and time management, don't you? Let's play.Inside a private booth at the café, Maya was already waiting, flanked by a young man and a woman.
"Nora!" Maya stood up the second she saw me, pulling me into a chair. She introduced them, "This is Leo, our chief tech lead. He's a wizard with streaming protocols."
"And this is Zoe, our live producer. Quick on her feet." Turning to them, she added, "This is my best friend, Nora."
Maya gripped my hands, worry clouding her eyes.
"Nora, have you really thought this through?
"The whispers, the online gossip... people might point fingers at you for a long time."
I met her gaze without flinching.
"Maya, the second I realized the truth, there was no turning back."
"I'm not the one who should be ashamed. The cheaters should. As for the gossip..." I smirked coldly. "As long as I come out thriving, wealthy, and happier than ever, their words can't touch me."
Maya squeezed my fingers tightly.
I turned to the laptop screen. Maya's team had already started blasting teaser clips across several huge relationship accounts with millions of followers:
"Tonight at 8 PM, tune in to @NoraUnfiltered for an unforgettable 'Anniversary Surprise'!"
"Romantic confession? Or a complete nightmare? Stay tuned!"
"Marriage is a gamble—dare to look at the cards? Going live tonight to reveal the other side of a 'perfect husband.'"
"She thought she married her soulmate... until she uncovered a horrifying secret on their anniversary."
The buzz was instantaneous. The comment section exploded with curiosity.
"An anniversary surprise stream? Sounds juicy!"
"Is this a scripted PR stunt?"
"Grabbing my popcorn. I love some good tea."
"If this turns out to be some cheesy romantic proposal, I'm unfollowing immediately!"
The algorithm was doing its magic.
Watching the analytics graph spike, Maya turned to me. "The hype is real. With this traction, our live viewer count will break records the second you turn it on."
"Nora, what's your next move?"
"I need him on camera admitting to tonight's date, and I need clear footage of him with Chloe," I said.
"His phone is packed with filth, but I can't touch it right now."
"Tonight, I'm making him expose himself."
Maya frowned. "Are you going to tail him? If you drive your own car, he'll spot you. Taking an Uber isn't safe or fast enough."
"I'm already ahead of you," I replied calmly. "Ryan's car has a hidden GPS tracker. I installed it years ago for safety, and he's long forgotten it exists."
"I can track his coordinates in real-time."
"Plus, I rented a generic silver sedan. Completely unremarkable."
"I'll stake out his office building early."
With every detail ironed out, we parted ways.
I picked up the rental, slid behind the wheel, and clicked my seatbelt into place.
I steered the car toward Ryan's office complex.
Finding a street parking spot with a clear view of the garage exit, I waited.
I opened SnapChat and tapped into Ryan's chat window.
"Happy anniversary, babe! I booked our dinner for seven tonight at our usual spot."
The message sat there like a stone cast into the deep ocean. No reply.
I flipped to the creator dashboard of the streaming platform.
The pre-stream buzz was skyrocketing; the hashtag had already cracked the top ten trending topics in our city.
Some trolls started calling it a scripted publicity stunt.
Maya's moderators immediately steered the conversation:
"Scripted or not, we'll find out tonight. If it's real, stay strong, sister!"
"Camping out here for the receipts. Men have been reckless lately."
"If this is real, cancel this scumbag into oblivion!"
At 1:00 PM, Ryan finally messaged back.
Just two words: "Very busy."
I screenshot it. Saved.
At 3:00 PM, another text popped up:
"Stuck with a VIP client tonight. Won't make it. Eat by yourself, don't wait up."
I crafted my reply to sound deliberately naive, disappointed yet understanding:
"Oh... okay. Work comes first. Just come home early once you're done, I'll be waiting."
He sent back a dry: "K."
At 4:30 PM, the red dot on my GPS app finally stirred.
I started the engine and trailed him at a safe distance.
Eventually, his black Mercedes pulled into the gates of The Grandview Penthouses.
It was an ultra-luxury gated complex with 24/7 security guards. My rental couldn't follow inside.
I parked across the street, positioning the car with a clear view of the main gate.
I sent a voice note to Maya, my voice chillingly steady:
"He's inside. I can't get in, so I'm camping at the entrance. Start the stream's public countdown."
Maya replied within seconds: "Got it. Gear checked? How are your nerves?"
"Equipment is perfect. I'm fine." I watched the armed guards stand at attention. "Security is ridiculously tight. He probably plans to spend the night here."
"I'll either have to find a way in, or catch him on his way out."
"Stay safe! Do not force your way in!" Maya warned.
"Don't worry. I know what I'm doing."
By 6:30 PM, the GPS tracker hadn't moved an inch.
On the streaming dashboard, Leo had the RTMP stream ready to fire. Maya messaged me:
"The pre-show room is packed. Over fifty thousand people are waiting. We can go live anytime. Say the word."
"Not yet," I typed back. "Wait until he walks out, or until I get a solid angle. I need ironclad receipts."By 7:30 PM, night had completely fallen over the city.
The iron gates of the luxury complex slid open, and the familiar black Mercedes cruised out.
Sitting in the passenger seat was Chloe.
I fired up the ignition and slid into traffic behind them.
At the exact same moment, I tapped the screen and went live.
The hidden camera was trained on my face, but angled slightly to capture the black Mercedes through my windshield.
I looked into the lens and offered a fragile, heartbreaking, yet determined smile.
"Hi everyone, I'm Nora. Today marks my third wedding anniversary."
"Right now, I'm on my way to deliver an anniversary 'surprise' to my husband."
"I hope all of you will witness this with me."
The viewer count detonated instantly.
Comments poured in like a tidal wave.
Looking at the fast-scrolling chat, I kept my voice eerily measured:
"A lot of you are asking where I'm driving."
"See that black Mercedes ahead of me?"
"That's my husband's car."
"Sitting in his passenger seat right now is Chloe, his executive assistant."
"About twenty minutes ago, they walked out of The Grandview Penthouses together."
"Yes, that ultra-luxury high-rise where penthouses go for millions."
The chat went ballistic:
[HOLY CRAP! Starting off with a bang?!]
[The Grandview?! That place is notorious for rich guys keeping sugar babies!]
[So on their anniversary, the husband ditches his wife to escort his side chick out of a luxury tower? You can't make this up!]
[Her voice is shaking... God, my heart breaks for her...]
[Wait, is this legal? Isn't this stalking?]
Maya's pinned mod message instantly flashed at the top in bold:
[Legal disclaimer: This stream is monitored by legal counsel. The creator is documenting marital misconduct for legal evidence in her marriage. Please keep comments civil.]
I looked back at the road and continued softly, "This morning, I texted my husband."
"I reminded him it was our special day, and that I booked a table at his favorite steakhouse."
"This afternoon, he told me he had an urgent client meeting and couldn't make it."
"Well, it looks like his 'client' is Miss Chloe."
The Mercedes pulled up in front of an upscale French restaurant.
It was that famous, viral rooftop bistro where reservations had to be made a month in advance. When I had asked Ryan to take me there last month, he had brushed me off, saying, "It's pretentious and not worth the hassle."
The driver's door swung open. Ryan walked around to the passenger side and gallantly opened the door for Chloe.
Chloe stepped out, beaming, and effortlessly looped her arm through his.
I parked along the curb, picked up my designer tote with the hidden camera lens poking out, and pushed my door open.
The stream tracked my steady footsteps, capturing every detail of the two lovebirds walking arm-in-arm into the warm glow of the restaurant.
The chat was losing its mind:
[CAUGHT IN 4K! Look at that grip! 'Just colleagues'? Yeah right!]
[Ditching his wife on their anniversary to wine and dine his assistant? TRASH!]
[Wait, that girl looks familiar... Isn't she an influencer on TikTok?]
[Stay strong, Nora! We've got your back!]
[Go in there and rip them apart!]I didn't rush in immediately. Instead, I leaned slightly toward the lapel mic and whispered:
"They just walked inside. I begged him to take me to this exact restaurant last month. He told me he hated the place."
"Turns out, he didn't hate the restaurant. He just hated the person asking to go with him."
My voice choked up with just the right amount of sorrow, but my eyes remained completely dry.
"Now, I'm going in. I want to ask him to his face if Miss Chloe is his most important 'client' tonight."
I pushed open the heavy brass doors of the restaurant.
The maître d' stepped forward with a polished smile. I gave Ryan's name.
"My husband made a reservation. Ryan Mitchell."
The host checked the tablet, his eyebrows twitching slightly.
"Mr. Mitchell has a table for two by the window, ma'am. And you are...?"
"I'm his wife," I gave him a radiant smile. "I'm here to give him a little anniversary surprise."
The host hesitated for a fraction of a second before gesturing, "Right this way, Mrs. Mitchell."
Ryan was the first to spot me. The smug, playful smile on his face instantly froze.
A flash of panic darted across Chloe's eyes, but she quickly masked it, her chin lifting slightly in subtle defiance.
Live comments:
[LMAO LOOK AT HIS FACE! He looks like he just saw the Grim Reaper!]
[The side chick is smirking?! Where does she get the audacity?!]
[Hold your ground, Nora! Destroy them!]
Ryan shot up from his seat, his face turning a furious shade of red.
"Nora?! What the hell are you doing here?"
"What am I doing here?" I echoed his words, my voice chillingly calm.
"On our wedding anniversary, I couldn't reach my husband. My GPS told me you were at The Grandview, and then I followed your car all the way here."
"Ryan, don't you think you owe me an explanation?"
Nearby diners began glancing over, hushed murmurs rippling through the elegant dining room.
Ryan lowered his voice, his teeth clenched in anger.
"Did you stalk me? Have you lost your damn mind? Whatever this is, we talk about it at home!"
"Home?" I chuckled softly.
"Which home? Our townhouse, or your love nest at The Grandview?"
Chloe stood up then, instantly slipping into her victim persona, wide-eyed and innocent.
"Nora, please, you've got this all wrong."
"Mr. Mitchell and I are just celebrating a closed deal. Our project went through today, so he offered to buy me dinner as a reward."
"We were only—"
"Do you normally wrap your arms around your boss's bicep to discuss business?" I interrupted, my gaze slicing down to her manicured hand, which was still resting on Ryan's forearm.
Chloe's face flushed from pale to crimson.
Ryan violently shook her hand off and lunged to grab my wrist.
"Nora, stop making a scene! You're humiliating us!"
"Chloe is just my assistant! We are literally talking about work! Stop acting crazy!"
"Acting crazy?" I pulled up my phone, pointing the camera straight at his sweating face.
"Ryan! Today is our third wedding anniversary!"
"I cooked, booked a table, and waited for you! You said you were busy!"
"I tried so hard to be the supportive wife, understanding your stress! Meanwhile, you were busy leaving your penthouse love nest with another woman for a candlelit dinner!"
"Is this your anniversary gift to me?!"
